L & S sayings
"On the iMac the audio sounds more vibrant and alive. It sounds significantly cleaner...better."
While watching The Avengers, L said, "My favorite superhero is Captain America because he was around during World War II and he helped try to defeat Hitler. He was also the first super hero as far as timeline."
"I do not want to be a game developer. I prefer creating utilities. I want to create something that changes the world. I feel like if I make another game...there is just another game in the world...there are already a lot so why make another. My first goal is to make a text editor that allows you to write HTML, JavaScript and JAVA which makes it easier for people to create a high quality website by giving more tools."...L
Here is a little of the quick wit:
L:
I was talking about a situation where we were "killing two birds with one stone". L's response"No, it is like planting two trees with one seed". he made this up because it is nicer, more animal friendly....and greener
While waiting in line at the library and thinking I had really picked up a useful tidbit from one of L's books, I tried to sound informed by mentioning something about Sir Isaac Newton's theories being discredited and L quickly replied correcting me by stating this:
"Sir Isaac Newton's theories on classic relativity are correct, on objects with a small mass but, on objects with a large mass, like planets, is where Newton fell short. However, Einstein came up with a different theory called special relativity which applies to both small and large objects.. Einstein reasoned that objects with large a mass can actually bend space and time...called SPACETIME. Say you took a tablecloth and you put a bowling ball on it...that is an example of special relativity because the ball bends the tablecloth which is just what a planet does to spacetime. Now you go outside and put that same bowing ball on a trampoline and you put a small marble on the trampoline as well....watch what happens. The results will look something like this..the marble will circle the bowling ball a few times, then it will cling on to it like a magnet which is just like the moon orbiting the earth and the earth orbiting the sun. These are examples of special relativity."
"For now on, L is going to talk in the third person."
L explained a very intricate aspect of the creative engineering game (Minecraft) to me and at the end of the last sentence he said, "Voila!". With perfect French pronunciation.
"You interrupted me in the middle of my very dramatic speech."
"I didn't learn anything in school. Nobody TAUGHT me anything. School is like this one Garfield strip where Garfield is lying down with his mouth open and Jon comes to him with his food bowl and puts the food in Garfield's mouth. Garfield says, "I'll be doing my own chewing today."
S and I were having a conversation about specific superheroes and I had stated that Carnage is like the red Venom. L chimed in with "Carnage assassinated his own mother...not the nicest chap."
L uttered, seemingly out of nowhere, " I can't believe there are still cowboys....it seems so uncivilized."
Quotes by L:
"Today is the last today but yet, there are many more tomorrows...this is actually a variable"
"Life may not be a cakewalk but you will always find some crumbs"
In response to my saying that we need to stop with some of these coding programs that are too easy for him....L said that "Go Animate! could be the aberration."
In response to figuring out whether we should get our money refunded from purchasing a video game creating software (far too remedial for him which we should have further researched ahead a time), in response to L realizing that he and I could have done more research prior to buying it L added, "Both sides are at fault. It is like the Civil War...both sides were at fault."
L was acting kooky in front of me so I commented:
Mom: "you are so weird"
L: "is that good weird or bad weird"
Mom: "it's good weird, but it is weird"
L: "we all have our quirks"
We were in our local library where the lady who checks us out knows us from our regular visits. L was expressing a lot of love for his books and I commented to the librarian that "this kid sleeps with no less than about 20 books in his bed."
L heard me and quickly retorted, "That's what I call sleeping in style!!"
That sort of encapsulates L's quirkiness if you will.
S (age 4)
"Sutty needs loveys, Sutty needs loveys." While we cuddle, S says, "It makes my heart feel warm and safe."
"Seriously, I am proud of you." S's comments on daddy's accomplishments in Angry Birds Star Wars.
Dad mentioned how people get hurt in car crashes all the time from texting and S immediately explained that, "I would just regenerate, my tushie would regenerate, my legs would regenerate, my tail would regenerate, etc. oh, yes, he is a method actor who is The Lizard "Lizrid" from The Amazing Spiderman.
"This is SOO frustrating". S while creating with clay (reproducing a very hard to build lego with clay) then a moment later, "Oh, this is not hard at all"
S was sitting with his hand in the dryer spinning the drum. Liam walked up at said "That looks fun and interesting." A replied "This is not a game L, it makes my brain feel better.". He then clarified, "the spinning makes me remember things that have already happened."
L and I were having a discussion about screen time. Whenever L was trying to make his point I interrupted him with my parenting point and S screamed, "LET THE MAN TALK!"
S showed me his black tar goo that he stuffed into his excavated mummy tomb and said,
"It is a special chemical that can revive any chemical that is around."
"This toy is effectively mine."
S spent hours in his room focusing on building Lego Hero Factory from a big mixed up bin of thousands of building pieces. He found a set of instructions to build a guy and sifted through the pile of pieces to build a pretty intricate guy following the instructions to a T. He also built a guy on his own without instructions as more of a creative process. For the creatively built guy, S stated, "I just randomly built it without instructions. I thought it in my mind."
